God Opens a New Door for Cup of Cool Water
Check out some big news from Mark Terrell.
I want to share something very exciting that God is doing at Cup of Cool Water today. Throughout the long, 20 year history of Cup of Cool Water, God has always provided for our needs. Some day I need to take the time to write down as many stories as I can remember from the these past 20 years of how God has met our needs every step of the way.
What I am about to share is yet another example of God meeting our needs at CCW.
During the summer of 2014, I took a 3 month sabbatical. It was a great time with family and sitting at the feet of Jesus reflecting on my time at Cup of Cool Water and how God has made me. The sabbatical ended and I came back to CCW reflecting and praying about the things the Lord showed me over the summer. At the January 2015 CCW Board of Directors meeting I felt the need to share what Jesus had been talking to me about. At the meeting I announced, “Over the past 6 months I have come to the conclusion that we need to create a 3 year plan for me to step down as the Executive Director of Cup of Cool Water. I want to stay engaged in the Cup Mission however I do not think my gifts are suited to be the Executive Director.”
The Board of Directors agreed and we started planning for the change. Throughout 2015 the ministry has been praying about this new chapter. God began by bringing and is still bringing new board members who are excited about what the Lord is doing. Then in the last quarter of 2015 God really spoke to one of the board members, Mike, about him becoming the Interim Executive Director. A plan was finalized and on February 16, 2016 Mike Brown was voted in as the Interim Executive Director of Cup of Cool Water.
You may be asking, “What does that mean?” It means that Mike is now the boss. He oversees financial development, core staff management and setting up an administration system that is more up to date and professional. I, Mark Terrell, have a new title, Founder/President. My duties will include staff development, community education and new and expanded program development.
I am excited about this new chapter at Cup of Cool Water. I really believe that it is an act of obedience and will help the ministry love youth who are homeless and the community better.
