It has always been interesting to me how we desire for God to make a big splash in our lives when all He wants to do is talk to us. Most of the time I find myself wanting to do all the talking and God never stops me from all my jabbering. Yet I find myself missing out what God has to say because I am to busy talking rather than listening. Thanks for the article. Keep doing what God has called you to do. Sometimes all we have is the call to lean on.

Thanks for sharing Mark. It is interesting to me that our natural tendencies in western culture is to correct behavior. Wanting others to be like me. and when they are not like me than “they” are something other and need to be changed. that is why religiosity doesn’t work well in our society. change takes place in community and it is ever so slow in its movement. Problem is many want change in an instant when in fact it takes a long long time. We must be willing to walk alongside those whom God has given us to care for; for however long that is. thanks for your willingness to obey your calling in Christ Jesus.

Bill from Tshimikain Creek Camp. Thanks for sharing your 2 stories of the gals coming into the clothing room. Often I find that if I stop “trying to” and just allow things to unfold God does some remarkable things in conversations with people. Just listening collecting data, getting to know the person in their world helps bunches. plus you receive unexpected gifts of grace as they open up their hearts sharing their story.

Thank you, Sarah–you know, I think the many years of you being there for those girls gave them the trust in you that they needed to be able to talk to you. Your faithfulness is beautiful! You are a gift from God.

I have not been able to be at Cup for a month and was so looking forward to coming today-even made my cookies yesterday. And then this morning I turned to put a knife in the dishwasher and was decked with horrible back pain. I don’t slow down easily (I share your impatience) yet am now only able to walk very slowly with much pain. Grumpy and grumbling I am home. Yet as I read your blog, I was reminded that I can serve the kids from here through prayer.

I am asking God for His hand and love to be bountiful at Cup today. May all the kids smell Jesus as they are there today.

Hi there, I work with youth out in Deer Park and was wondering what you recommend for youth who are in poor family situations that need temporary housing. We know several who are in that position and don’t know what to recommend to them beyond state social services.
